MAID OF HONOR | Tiffany Lin

Tiffany and I met six years ago as first-year pathology residents at UCLA, and from the very beginning, I knew she was someone special. We couldn’t be more different. Tiffany is fun, laid back, and knows how to enjoy every moment, while I tend to overthink and take life a bit too seriously. Somehow, that balance has made us the perfect match.

Tiffany makes me laugh until I cry, but she’s also the person I turn to when life feels heavy. She remembers the tiniest details about people and always finds small ways to show she cares, whether it’s a thoughtful gift, a perfectly timed text, or a birthday message sent exactly at midnight. Even now, from all the way in New York living her best medical examiner life, she continues to make me feel seen and loved every single day.

Tiffany has taught me how to be a better friend simply by being one herself. I love her sense of humor, her huge heart, and the way she says the word “honking”. We’ve been quoting Bridesmaids nonstop for years, but wedding planning has taken it to a whole new level. I feel so lucky to have Tiffany by my side as my maid of honor, and even luckier to have her as one of my forever people.

BRIDESMAID | Sherry Wang

The earliest memory I have of Sherry involves a fierce debate over who got to be the pink Power Ranger. We were at her house during a church fellowship gathering for our parents. All the kids were playing Power Rangers, and both of us wanted to be the pink one. Sherry insisted she would be the pink Power Ranger, and I had to be the yellow one. In protest, I bit her. I still did not get to be the pink ranger. Somehow, despite this tiff, we’ve been inseparable ever since. Ironically, my favorite color now is yellow, so I guess we both won in the long run.

Sherry has been a constant presence throughout my life. She mentored me through middle and high school with the wisdom a few years’ difference can bring to a teenager. We separated for college but still managed to visit each other and always spent the holidays together back home in New Jersey. She has seen the entire evolution of my relationship with Ignacio and has been there through every milestone along the way.

We’ve shared countless trips together, from adventures through Europe to spontaneous getaways to Mexico and Canada. But some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones, like picking up noodles to eat back at her apartment in Greenpoint while watching TV. Sherry is the stylish and cool big sister I never had. She has shaped so much of who I am, and I cannot imagine my life without her love and friendship.

BRIDESMAID | Stephanie Zhang

I still remember Stephanie at around five years old, standing in line for the Tower of Terror ride at Disney World. My brother and I were both scared, but she was practically bouncing with excitement. It was finally the year she was tall enough for the ride, and she could not wait. When the ride was over, while the two of us were still shaken, Stephanie immediately wanted to go again. That moment has always stayed with me because it perfectly captures who she is: fearless, brave, and ready to face anything head-on.

She’s always amazed me. She’s creative, determined, and thriving as a fashion designer in LA. Everything she does seems effortless. Growing up, she was the star softball player, the cool and popular girl, and, of course, the tallest daughter.

Stephanie is strong where I am uncertain and brave when I hesitate. She has been there for me and our family during some of the hardest times, and I look up to her more than she knows, even though I am the older sister. I am so grateful for the laughter we share, the strength we give each other, and for the privilege of calling her my sister and my friend.

BEST MAN | Daniel Calles

Ignacio’s brother and running partner through all of his favorite hobbies. Their highlight reel includes: riding the Iron Rattler eight times in a row and leaving Six Flags with mild concussions, ruining Daniel’s shoulder for years after he slept off a 6th Street birthday in the wrong position, earthshattering a wall, showing up to a torrential downpour in ponchos and sandals only to watch the theme-park restaurants flood (but still getting in about half the rides), getting addicted to crane games, and chasing high scores on barrel-rolls in Japan. Here’s to many more years of thrill rides, haunted houses, videogame marathons, overeating, and whatever else still lies ahead.

GROOMSMAN | Michael Werner

Ignacio and Michael share a unique set of experiences and perspectives, each thinking they’d never meet another person quite like them. It’s rare to find a friend who so readily and easily understands you, and for them, that seemed like an impossibility. Their humor and conversations can border on impenetrable. Anyone around these two knows that they tend to get lost in their own world, reviewing the ice and lettuce at a buffet or engaging in heated discussions about napkin quality around strangers. They may be entertaining themselves at the expense of the rest of the world, but given how far each has come and how unlikely their success, what’s left to do but point and laugh?
